 Featured Snippets What Are They 

If you scroll to head section of any web page and get a glimpse of their page view you will most likely find a snippet comprising of meta data informing what the page is all about this is structured data but rich snippets are much more they are unique aspects of webpage content that end up answers question visitors to website seek and the answer is precise, consise and satisfatcory. . 

Often they rank above website ranking on top in Google Search such is the power of these new SEO  element applicable to organic search. The questions these pices of code address are usually who? where? why? how? what? and when? Using this tip you can address adding featured snippets in pages that are related to the string of ? mentioned here. The rich snippets show up in many terms typed by users as well as on high traffic topics or terms. They are taking a significant share of organic traffic especially in case of voice search.

Google prefers better informtion heirarchy and about 50 words limit in the snippets besides better formating using headers like H1, H2, etc.

How to Create Featured Snippets in webpage contents? 

How to create content that results as snippets. Create numbered lists or points or paragraphs that anser questions mentioned above. Any bit of useful information (quality content) about which the users can ask if structured well can be a snippet that will rank in SERPs.

Good content formatting and structured data  on web page can result in showing up as snippets in the SERPs. Remember structured data is a piece of coding using JSON -LD or other scripts approved by search engines like Yahoo, Bing, Ask and Google. These are also known as schema markup all practices are under an organization called Schema.org.    

Structured data is qunatitative and not qualitative. The information is structured more as name, address, geolocation, Unstructured data is qualitative and is semantic in nature and needs lot of processing andunderstanding using the indexing alogirthms. While structured data is in a fixed format the unstructured data comes in wide variety of formats and in order to extract insights lot of data mining and analytics tools are required

In order to create diversity of results on the SERPs Google displays many other clickable besides the ten search results as desired by the visitors. Rich snippet besides the knowledge graph, FAQs and carousels create a greater search experience for the visitors  and at the same time provide another visibility option to the website owners.  Here do not forget the Google Ads which have become the regular feature of the SERPs and are a crucial source of revenue.  

All webmasters vie for their client website to get greater clickable option as one among the few rich snippets that Google displays.  This is a more decorate form of search result with images or video besides text attracting a potential click online. But this optimization technique is related to structured data on page in the invisible <head> section. 

Structured Data

This is a relatively new concept preferred by Google, Yahoo and Bing search engine. The structured data Language and formats are easily and more accurately understood by search engines. Structured Data on page aids Google and other SE to better understand the page contents. This data is created using mark up languages in formats like JSON-LD, Micro Data and RDFa. The mark up languages are HTML, XML, VHML, BPML etc. 

The structured data is able to describe only certain types of content relating to events, recipes and products on the web page. Remember placing this data on the web page does not guarantee a place of SERP as a rich result.   

If the web page finds a place on SERPs it stands a chance to get greater visibility and this will increase the click percentage as well. 

Schema.Org         

Schema.Org was launched by a consortium comprising of Google, Bing, Yahoo and Yandex. This aims to standardize the formats used for greater cohesion. The intention is to create a common set of schema for structured data markup.

Rich Snippets Using Structured Data

Snippets created using structured data can help in accurately indexing and can even enhance your lists.

In order to provide more information to search engines other than content webmasters use snippets. This is structured data is a standardised format which helps in providing explicit clues to search engines. This is because each and every individual characteristic of topic is labelled separately.      

In order to create structured data snippets there are many formats available standardised by Schema.Org. 

For example you can add your location in the website may be in the footer. The visitors will understand this perfectly well. But the search engines may not....  Using Schema markup you can successfully tell search engines the location in a coding they understand more accurately.  

There are many tools available to be embedded into a webpage with detailing tags. The code is generated using tools and plugins for WordPress.
