Avoiding Duplicate Content In Web Pages and Promotional Matters

There was a time, whence search engine algorithms were in their infancy and were not capable of making out plagiarism. Duplicacy was tolerated to a large extent and websites and content flourished. This was not to be for long as the algorithms were evolving and inducting  filters and mechanisms to oust trash or spam

The effort behind filters like Panda and Penguin was to make out spam and duplicate content. These pages, off-page content, and blogs were expelled from SERP or completely penalized.  This was starting off a new phase and the search engine wanted to put the best results forward.

Unique Content Wins

The first principle that applies to good creation is relevancy. Search engines rank pages that are relevant and do not mention unrelated multiple topics. Thus, visitors on the search engines were getting unique information and not the ones that were proliferating the web everywhere. The algorithms are being developed all the time, and we hear about this as updates that they mentioned in interviews and news reports. The updates have become the talk of the time and the search engine professional always keep a tab on them and try to make out their impact.

Nowadays, there are many tools like the Copyscape and Siteliners that help SEO professionals, content writers, and website and blog owners make out duplicacy.

Visitors on the web look for unique helpful content and spurn duplicates. Google has recently announced this feature and they will follow and value content that subscribes to the guidelines. Most of the spam content is therefore being penalized and websites are being ranked lower.

Writing Best for Visitors

Earlier content writers were not focused on competency, they were just filling their creations with words that conformed to long-form content. They were making efforts to impress the search engines to rank higher and gain more traffic. This is not at all welcome the metrics that algorithms employ to enable them to measure the popularity of the content among the website or blog visitors. This applies to social media writeups as well.

Readability is also an issue hence learn to format your pieces well. Excessive use of tags is not good, especially the H1 Tag. Use bold and italics sparingly and create neat relevant paragraphs.

Word Count Does Not Matter

No, the word count does not matter anymore and those writers filling writeups with meaningless words are being shunned. Hence make efforts to add useful and helpful information and links. Keep in mind even similar information or writeup though not spam does not work for ranking or attracting visitor traffic.

Come up with something unique that attracts repeat visitors and negates the bounce rate. Bounce rate is a search engine metric that enables them to make out how long the visitors stay on the page. If the bounce rate is high, the website's position on SERP will go down drastically, and if a lot of fluff is present, it may be penalized.

Content is King

This is the truth. But it is good content that is the king. With words and phrases, it is not possible to reach goal conversion. This could be through videos, memes, graphics, and photographs. Your pages and blogs should be rich in all attractive elements and placed properly.

With new rules and regulations coming into the picture website developers and ad agencies should pay special attention to uniqueness.  All campaigns, be they for digital marketing or advertising should follow guidelines. If they fail if the central piece of attraction is not unique and attractive. Remember, the points mentioned in this blog post and follow them for great success online.

Acknowledging Content Spam & Impact on Associated Links

Of Website Content

Content along with links especially on website are the most important element of cyber ecosystem. They are instrumental in reacting to search engine algorithms and provide crucial information (answer to query) to site visitors. In short write for the user...and further... bad contents will bring bad results and will be acknowledged as spam in quite a few instances.

This fact should be known to website owners who hire webmasters or agencies for promotion of their website or holistic digital marketing campaigns. Seo content writing differs from the regular stuff and SEs have blocked spam using high prevalence of keywords as a yardstick measuring goodness.

Thus malady afflicts those who pen website pages, blog posts and articles for search engines rather than the users. Boldly repeating contents on page or in another page in the website architecture is certainly not impressive and is boring. Search engines upon noticing the futility of repeat paragraph/page would downgrade the page...writing same thing in a subtly disguised manner would also harbor same action since the algorithms are being constantly enhanced to deal with dilution or spam. This would also lead to penalizing of internal pages linked with content with malicious intent. In case of doubt create a sub section under suitable heading or main link and add the new page there underneath. If repeated or similar content is present lower down the hierarchy it should be more acceptable?

Not only repeating in any form but also adding content not narrowly relevant to the topic can be seen as spam. this is done to increase website presence on far related topic. The link and content architecture of a website should be unique relevant and designed for the visitors.

Repeating kills creativity, for it is a mad rush to impress the search engine it thus drains energy to create a new vision using words that are clearly invigorating to the readers and explain things better. Yes people like flair in the pen provided it explains things in a lucid manner and is not abstract. Visitor need direct and simple answer to their query be it navigational, informative of transactional whatever the intent. The attention span of most visitors is limited and there is no time for unravelling intrigue or abstract.

More on Duplicate Contents

Creating New Pages

Whence you create a new page be careful even honest intention can be construed as malicious if it is to narrowly related to the existing. Sometimes it is necessary to create such pages in order to bolster the information architecture of the website as whole. Another unintentional spam is seen on eCommerce sites in case of product descriptions where remarkably similar description are used in case of items separated by dimensions or price.

Large portals are subject to repeat content which inadvertently creeps in especially in case where other writers dabble or have written in part. It is a mind boggling exercise which will lead to fatigue if scrutiny is made to extricate such malicious impact and most webmasters ignore if the fee paid is less and hence the time accorded or reasonable traffic is in place. But these site sooner or later will be beaten hollow by the peer on SERPs.

Earlier a large number of pages where created to attract attention to closely related search terms. This is spam and making them landing pages will not achieve any authority for the website. A unique write up using semantics will automatically focus on diverse  search terms. Those out of purview will not be closely related hence a new page can be created as sub division of the same topic without any fear of losing authority if not penal action. Topics or sub topics can be repeated on new pages in order to elaborate information but the phrase used as introductory on a parent page should not be used.

Search Engine Optimization Ethos

Search engine should avoid penalty in the optimization framework rather they should discount authority if malicious intent is found. Imposing penalty is regressive and conservative unless until it is a case of a direct threat that viciously manipulates the algorithms.

Website owners often fail to pay enough attention to on page contents because either they are not aware of ever changing dynamics of algorithms and the importance of on page content, or do not have enough budget to hire a seo writer which by all means come expensive. Search engine optimization is an art unlike its parent fold known as digital marketing and art costs money.

This is just an introduction to content spam more digging will be revelation in this series. Stay Hooked!
