Also known as Internet Commerce this is simply put a platform to conduct business online. Thus eCommerce is a wide spectrum electronic business paradigm and any contract, transaction or deal of business type can be considered as eCommerce. But what specifically has taken the World by storm is cart or shop based commerce on Internet. Commerce or any activity of the Net is as a culmination of a series of concepts or digital or software  programs that have taken place in the virtual world or cyber space.  The stores and shops are supported by a line management that may not necessary be virtual.

Slowly but surely, the new means of doing of business in the virtual world is replacing if not in totality many means of doing business in real World and some are becoming indispensable. Shopping is one such activity which is creeping into the share of land based retail/wholesale slowly but surely. Though the purchase and payment takes place online in case of goods, the delivery system is physical but in case of software programs this is not necessary for they can be downloaded then and there post payment which is done electronically.     

This article is not meant for extensive discussion on unlimited scope of  electronic businesses in the virtual World. We will discuss here the newly emerging shops and stores that is enabling common man with aim of selling personal goods or to indulge in trade online. Just imagine a store in neighbourhood or in busy marketplace and you have money rolling down your throat. Not my business!

But a store online is almost everyone's cup of tea. Investment is still required but not on scale of that in brick and mortar establishment. If you have a niche to sell like a painting or a craft product for example you can go and registered with shops like Magento or Shopify own you own store or shop, display products and begin selling online.         

Before we move on to the two e-business store providers we should get familiar with some aspects of the platforms which facilitate e-business. I am sure readers here are familiar with the following terms and those which may have been beyond the scope will be expended. 

• B2B
• B2C
• C2C
• C2B
• Retail
• Wholesale
• Dropshipping......In this case the platform acts like a middle man and the order passes on to actual manufacturer who ships it to the customer address provided in the cart. 
• Crowfunding is collection of funds in advance for a product usually by startups as means of collecting business funds. This is being practiced quite often nowadays as means of enhancing capital.      
• Subscription is more for a online service whence a subscriber for a fee gets regular updates of antivirus for example till the subscription is cancelled. This also applies for recurring purchase of products.   

There are innumerable eCommerce platforms where you can by good pertaining to vast range of categories. Giants like eBay, Amazon and Flikart to quote a few are leading companies that are facilitating sale and purchase of digital and physical goods online including electronic payments through credit/debit cards and Internet banking. These are reputed sites which facilitate timely delivery and offer a sound return policy as well. There plenty of niche eCommerce platforms for those seeking to sell something special or rare.       

Our next article is on Shopify and Magento the former is online eCommerce Site while the latter is O/S system with basis for setting up store for selling products and services.  Magento requires expertise and degree of difficulty is higher whence compared with Shopify and WordPress CMS for that matter. Magento ideally suited for e-business can provide complex solution and a much larger portal can be built.
